BRA Day, which stands for Breast Reconstruction Awareness day, first launched in Canada in 2011 is an awareness campaign designed to promote public education, awareness and access for women who may wish to consider post mastectomy reconstruction or immediate reconstruction.

Calgary began the movement in Alberta in 2013, Edmonton joined in 2015 and Medicine Hat will be hosting its first annual BRA Day on Sat Nov 5, 2016 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital from 1-4 pm.

It is a collaborative effort that involves plastic surgeons, general surgeons, nurse specialists, nurse navigators, breast cancer patients, their families and friends, a show and tell lounge for women only, a co-ed lounge for women and their partners, as well as an information session. A local representative who is a recovered breast cancer patient will also be there speaking about her process.

I will have some of my painted bra’s on display which you can read more about here, and I will be donating 25% of every bra sold to the Margery E Yuill Cancer Ward. If you are interested, please contact me with more information.
